Perspective

“Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord.” —Colossians 3:22-24
.
Don’t you just love when you read something that meets you where you are? God totally gets me like that. Whether I’m wanting Him to or not in the moment. 😏
.
I woke up sleepy, sore, and just overall not wanting to do all the tasks of life today. My introverted self is wanting more to crawl into her shell and stay there. To not do all the housework, laundry, work to-do list, calls, workout, and errands. Some days I just totally don’t want to do it. Ever have those kinda days?
.
But as I dove into my devotions this morning, Jesus reminded of this verse and combatted my “poor me” mentality I had at the onset of today.
.
Whatever.
Enthusiastically.
Lord.
Three key words in this verse. 💗
.
Whatever I do – everything I do daily, let it be done “lively and with great interest, sincerely and earnestly” because when I work and serve others by completing my “whatevers,” I’m serving Jesus.
.
Well dang. Let’s hit restart then, right?! 🤦🏽‍♀️ #gutcheck
.
I don’t HAVE to do any of these things. Clean. Work. Meal prep food. Do laundry. Answer emails. But I GET to.
.
I GET to work every day because God has blessed me with a job I’m able to do from home and bring in a full income while raising my babies. Through it, I get to serve Jesus and share His love.

I GET to clean and run errands today, because I have a home and children to care for, a car to use to drive to the store and enough money to buy provisions to supply my family.
.
See how I did that? Took the “poor me” look at all I have to do today and instead turned it I to things I GET to do today. And that is a blessing. 💗
.
I hope today you are reminded of what and WHO you are working for. How can you turn your thoughts about a certain task or two into thankful, “I get to” statements instead?

Fall Comfort Food : Chili

The cool evenings have chili on my mind so that’s what was for dinner tonight!
.
This recipe is so easy to make and it’s the perfect amount for feeding the family & leftovers too! This is a double batch recipe. 👌🏽
.
INGREDIENTS YOU NEED:
2 cans whole tomatoes
2 cans Rotel (diced tomatoes)
2 cans tomato paste
2 cans black beans
1 can kidney beans
2 containers of ground turkey
Oregano
Basil
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Chili powder
Salt, pepper
.
HOW TO MAKE:
Brown your turkey with some garlic and a drop of olive oil in the bottom of your pot. Once cooked, toss everything else in—the cans of strained beans and the tomatoes and paste. (Crush the Whole tomatoes into small chunks while everything is mixed together – this will add some more juice to the chili too and that way you’re not munchkin on huge tomato chunks either.)
.
Then, season to your taste and liking with chili powder, oregano, basil, pink salt and pepper! I use about 2 tbsp chili powder with a batch this big. You might want to tone it back or use regular diced tomatoes instead of Rotel if you don’t like a little spice to it. 😜
.
Bring to a boil and keep stirring, then let simmer for about 15/20 minutes to get all the juices flowing together nicely.
.
Enjoy alone and top with some cheese and crushed tortilla chips or crackers. Something I do with leftovers is scoop over sautéed zucchini or pasta noodles. 👌🏽
.
I use a 1 1/2 measuring cup for 1 serving. 🤗
.
Share away and tag some girlfriends who might enjoy the recipe too! 😘
.
ENJOY! 🍂🍁

Long days

It’s been a longggggg night with multiple wake ups from one or both munchkins throughout the night until 4am. 😳
.
I wanted so badly to just stay awake from 4:45 on once we got them back asleep, but my body just wouldn’t let me.
.
So, I awoke a couple hours later to get to work in the quiet of the house and not even 5 minutes later little man scared me in the kitchen, “Mommy! Look! Hugun wake up!” 😂 Needless to say, so sleepy but were trucking right along.
.
Snuggled up with my little dude now and enjoying a cup of coffee and diving into my new book by one of my favorite authors.
.
I’m really excited about this book being based around the theory of TRUE BELONGING. I think feeling like you truly belong is something so many are on a quest for, but at the end of the day….what does it really look like?
.
Are we on a journey to find belonging to a group? To ourselves?
.
“True belonging only happens when we present our authentic, imperfect selves to the world, because our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self acceptance.”
.
I’ve been learning that belonging means being called to stand alone — to be BRAVE and journey through uncertainty, criticism, and vulnerability. This is tough in the world we live in.
.
I’ve always craved belonging. Wanting to fit in? Find that tribe? Feel like I belong in whatever circle I’m in? I think we all do.
.
Over the last few years I’ve been finding increased freedom in belonging to myself, staying true to myself, and owning my story as opposed to trying to fit in.
.
When I decided three years ago to start using my story as a way to love on and relate to others from what I’ve been through, I realized that it might make me not fit in with certain crowds. It might make me feel disconnected or alone, but belonging, to me, is about so much more than trying to “fit in”. It’s about following my calling from God and being brave enough to share it.
.
To stand alone. To not sacrifice my authenticity or freedom at the cost of simply trying to “fit in” with the norm or what anyone thinks I should do or be.
.
I’m still learning what belonging looks like in my life but I’m excited about journeying through this book!

Truth Bomb

Just a little truth bomb for you this Monday morning. ✌🏽
.
No matter where you are in life, what’s going on, what burdens you; above all else you are BLESSED.
.
You are blessed and God is showing up in small ways you may not even notice. Try and find them!
.
I see it as, there are two ways to look at life—as a gift or as something that owes you.
.
You’ve got a lot going on and a lot that burdens you? Guess what, ME TOO! I feel your pain. But we have two options the way I see it. We can either CHOOSE to see our life as a gift and a way to find the little victories around us. OR we can choose to believe as though life owes us; constantly unhappy and demanding more, different, and like we deserve it.
.
God gave us this life so that we may be blessed and live abundantly. What is “abundantly” to you? He didn’t HAVE to do that. He was being gracious by giving us that gift. Every time I start feeling like the world owes ME something, I stop and look inward and remember these two things:
.
1. I am blessed and how can I find proof of that today?
2. Whatever I think is unfair right now, it could be so much worse.
.
Put your GRACE goggles on this morning and consciously CHOOSE to see life as a BLESSING. It may not always feel like it, but I bet you could name a few things right now that are GREAT things in your life. 💗
.
Try it. I dare ya! #liveinspired #silverlining #feedthebody #feedyourmind#findjoy #choosepeace

Be a Dreamer

“Be a DREAMER.”
.
A phrase I never thought I’d ever actually put into practice in my lifetime.
.
I’ve just always been a very “safe” person. Not pushing the limits or getting outside my comfort zone. Doing what I am told to do, and okay with being mediocre. Going about life just being OK instead of GREAT. Until something clicked. 😏
.
People ask me all the time if I like working from home, how I do it with young kids, and if I miss being in the classroom.
.
My answer is this: 👇🏽👇🏽
.
I love to teach and empower people. I believe God gave me that passion as a gift to bless others. So while I’m not in the classroom teaching my middle and high schoolers, I’m teaching to a wider community of women who need love and encouragement in a different way. That’s still teaching to me.
.
How do I do it? With a lot of grace and help. Is it hard to build a business at home with young kids? Holy moly! You betcha! But it’s pretty dang worth it. These last almost 3 years would have passed by anyways, so why NOT have been spending them doing something that inspires me, has helped me stay in shape to keep up with my babies, has brought me the most genuine of friendships, and has created freedom and security for my family!
.
So yeah, it may be a little crazy now in this new mama phase while owning two businesses, but dang is it rewarding to see work hard & have your family close the whole time!
.
“Be a DREAMER.”
.
Three words that the old me would have laughed off and said “Yeah right; this is just how life is. I could never do {that}.”
.
The new me? She’s realized how boring and uninspiring life was living like THAT! So she took a chance. >>>
.
Quit something.
Started something.
Started another something.
Failed a whole lot.
Got told no.
Was unsupported, unfollowed, & even had some pretty nasty message from the haters.
.
But she DREAMED. And guess what happens to those who dream big? They make things happen because they will stop at nothing to turn their dream into a reality. 💗
.
Don’t live inside the box. Dip your toe outside and don’t be afraid to dream. Try something new! But what if you fail? That’s ok. Because there’s also a 50/50 chance that you’ll fly instead! 😘

Truth

#truth✌🏽
.
As women, we are never satisfied with the way we look, we always have an immediate answer to fill in the blank to “I wish I was more _____.” Am I right?
.
The truth is though, we are already perfect. Maybe not perfect in the sense of the word in our society today; we are flawed, have stretch marks from our precious babes, don’t have perfect abs, have curves…all of it — PERFECTLY imperfect.
.
And with every imperfection, there is such BEAUTY.
.
Today, I’m challenging all my girl friends to remember that even though you may be flawed and imperfect, in the eyes of God, you are the absolute most beautiful woman.

Day 1

Day 1 of my meal plan for this program I’ve been doing the last week and today begins actual dedication with my test group ladies—meal plan AND the workouts.
.
My husband and I are following the second week of workouts since we’ve been sampling the first week ones for over a week now. 🙌🏽
.
Let me tell you. I already love the meal plan so much too. It shifts and changes from week 1 to week 3 and really takes into account the intensity of the workout itself to pair with the amount of food you need to fuel your body.
.
It’s amazing how great your body feels with dialed in nutrition and hydration. You’re not left to starve. Your simply fueling your body with more whole foods and less crap. 😜
.
Combining my breakfast and snack today since I’m on the go for a bit this morning. 👌🏽
.
❤️ 2 eggs
💙 1 tbsp shredded cheese
💚 handful of spinach
🌿 Superfoods with 1/2 a banana
.
Delicious and filling and now I’m off to an appointment and no need to stop and grab a breakfast sandwich somewhere.
.
I catch myself so often having my own excuses of why I don’t eat breakfast or why it takes too long as a busy mom in a season of life that is not easy at all, but the reality is. That’s exactly what it is—an EXCUSE.
.
You CAN make time. It DOESN’t take that long to whip up something healthy. And YOU are better equipped to tackle your day and everyone in it better because of it. Remember that. 😘
.
🌿 Fuel your body so you can fuel your life. 🌿

Painter

“You are the painter of your own mood. Your days are only as grey as you allow them to be and as colorful as you can imagine them to be.”
.
It’s always something isn’t it? For us, it’s toddler tantrums. We’ve been having a heck of a time with them lately, and are working through the chaos and learning to be patient and listen to our boy as best we can.
.
We choose, ya know?
How we live our life.
How we approach situations.
How we look at our day.
.
So with bedhead, morning breath, and sleepies in my eyes, I CHOOSE to have a good day with coffee in hand. No late night of toddler struggles can bring this mama down! 👊🏽20046511_1229708733834791_5169227835023248531_n

Getting it in with NO excuses

Workout going down now and I don’t even care that it’s late.
.
We’ve had a few unexpected things we had to do this afternoon which kind of threw our day off, but I’ve been seeing all my ladies browsing their programs and knocking them out today and I’m totally inspired to not miss mine either. Plus, my workout is dancing to 80’s and 90’s music—it doesn’t get much better than that for a postpartum mama. 🙌🏽
.
I’m telling you….a support community changes EVERYTHING! I glance back from 2.5 years ago to now…who am I? ITCHING to workout even late afternoon? 🤷🏽‍♀️I’ll take it! You know why? Because I’m sooooo much of a better wifey and mama because of it.
.
When I talk to new ladies getting into my groups, almost 99% of them say they are in need of one thing: ACCOUNTABILITY.
.
👉🏽👉🏽 Someone to cheer them on, and be there in the trenches with them. Someone to support them and help them on the days they want to give up.
.
That’s what being part of a team is all about. Support. Love. Friendship. Community. And a little kick in the booty every so often too. 👊🏽😜
.
Did you get your workout in today? Drop me a 👊🏽 if so!

She threw away all of her masks and put on her soul.

I woke up to a pretty awesome quote shared in my accountability group this morning and I just fell in love with it instantly!
.
“She threw away all of her masks and put on her soul.”
.
How beautiful is that?! 🙌🏽
.
As I sit her in my kitchen this morning sipping coffee with my hubby, I immediately thought about how I’m un-showered and no makeup on, just in my workout clothes and not dolled up. No masks to hide anything. Completely raw.
.
I have been on a wellness journey from the inside out for the last 2.5 years. Getting rid of all the masks I’ve hidden behind to finally bask in the security of what sets my soul on fire. It feels GOOD too!
.
You can tell yourself whatever you want, put on layers of makeup, hide behind various facades of what you want people to view you as, but at the end of the day you will be left feeling empty.
.
So why not “beautify” your SOUL by working on yourself and the things that are substantial? Your confidence, your heart, your self image, the way you interact and relate to people, how you view your job and the experiences around you—be TRUE to who you are!
.
Let the beauty of your SOUL shine through and don’t try to cover up anything behind a mask that you feel might make you stronger, because in reality, it just makes you weaker and less confident.
.
The moment I realized that there was no mask good enough to hide behind, was the moment I started LIVING for ME. I finally started doing some soul searching and found the little bits of beautiful that were waiting to come out and be shared in a passionate way with others. 💗
.
My encouragement to you today is—set aside those masks. Set aside what you are hiding behind and embrace the fact that you are bold, beautiful, and so wonderfully made. There’s only ONE you and there are people who need to experience the greatness of YOUR soul. 💕
